UNIDO ITPO Tokyo and Ethiopian Embassy Host Successful Investment Seminar in Japan

UNIDO ITPO Tokyo and the Embassy of Ethiopia in Japan recently hosted the “Ethiopia Investment Seminar” at the United Nations University. The seminar aimed to provide Japanese companies with information on the investment environment and opportunities in Ethiopia, as well as private sector businesses in the country.

The seminar was attended by 88 participants from Japanese companies, and featured opening remarks from H.E. Mr. Daba Debele Hunde, Ambassador-Designate, Embassy of Ethiopia in Japan, and H.E. Mr. Belete Molla, Minister of Innovation and Technology of F.D.R. of Ethiopia.

During the seminar, attendees learned about Ethiopia’s remarkable economic growth, population of over 100 million, large young generation, and market access advantages. Various sectors with high investment needs were also highlighted, such as manufacturing (textiles, leather, pharmaceuticals, etc.), agriculture, ICT, steel, and tourism. Representatives from private companies also shared their businesses in Ethiopia, including WODA INDUSTRIAL PARK PLC and Sumitomo Corporation.

The seminar concluded with a coffee ceremony hosted by the Embassy of Ethiopia in Japan, where participants enjoyed coffee and exchanged ideas.
